Rule Changes could lead to more cash for gamblers in South Dakota
Gamblers in the state of South Dakota have been enjoying Caribbean stud poker and other games for some time now. Players have been able to win nice size jackpots but they could soon see a large increase in the prize pools available. Shuffle Master has proposed rule changes which if passed would see an increase in prize money. Just last week the South Dakota Commission of Gaming listened to a testimony given by Shuffle Master on the new changes they would like to make. If the new rules go into effect the games offered by Shuffle Master such as Caribbean stud and Let it ride would pool their jackpots which would mean the payout has the potential to be very large. The house bank offers six games: Ultimate Texas Hold’em, Mississippi stud, Texas Hold’em bonus, Four card poker, Let it ride and Caribbean stud poker.
In the meeting Shuffle Master told the commission that the pool of money played for could be linked to different poker tables and players would then be competing against the house to receive the money. The pool could also be linked to other casinos nearby that are owned by the same people.
South Dakota casinos already use progressive jackpots but this one would be different as it would allow a pay table that is consistent across different tables and they would all be liked to one common meter. John Hemberger is the table games product manager for Shuffle Master commented that the meters would be incrementing at the exact same time and they would all be playing for the same prize. The house bank poker games would be the ones affected and players would be playing against the house instead of player to player.
The South Dakota Commission on Gaming now has to review the proposal and make a decision. Any changes to the rules cannot be made until the commission has made a decision.
