New Zealand Grandmother Earns Big Bucks Playing Caribbean Stud
A Grandmother from Dunedin in New Zealand has achieved something twice in her life that many people will never be able to do. She was dealt a royal flush while playing Caribbean Stud and won $212,737. The woman was playing at the Dunedin Casino before the Melbourne Cup was scheduled to begin. The woman was the only player at the table and when she was dealt the cards, a flush, she thought she had won $100. Then she was told that she had been dealt a royal flush all in the same diamond suit and had won the jackpot, the largest payout ever at the Dunedin Casino.
As the woman won, all the people there for the Melbourne Cup were drawn to her and no one was paying attention to the Cup. The odds of winning the jackpot is 650,000 to 1 for the hand she was dealt and the grandmother has done it one other time before.
In 2003, the woman won $110,752 after she was dealt a royal flush in the hearts suit. The immediately asked to call her husband she was so shaken by her win. The grandmother stated she would like to take her family overseas for a holiday with her winnings.
